⏳ Countdown Timer
Set a target time or a number of minutes and count down to zero. An audio alert plays when the countdown ends.
About the Countdown Timer
This countdown timer runs entirely in your browser. You can either set a duration in minutes or pick a target date and time — the timer counts down to zero and plays a short beep when finished. Use the quick presets for common durations, or enter any custom value. The countdown is based on wall-clock time, so it stays accurate even if you switch browser tabs.
Minutes mode vs. target time mode
In minutes mode, you enter how long from now the timer should last (for example, 10 minutes). The tool computes the target instant as "now plus that many minutes." In target time mode, you pick an exact date and time using the datetime picker, and the timer counts down to that instant. Target time mode is handy for counting down to an event, a meeting, or the new year.
How to use this timer
- Choose a mode and enter the duration or target time.
- Press Start to begin counting down.
- Press Pause to halt and Start again to resume.
- When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm sounds and a toast appears.
Frequently asked questions
Does the alarm work if the tab is in the background? The countdown continues accurately, but most browsers throttle background audio. Keep the tab focused (or at least unmuted) to hear the beep reliably.
What happens if the target time is in the past? The display will show 00:00:00 immediately and the alarm will sound right away.
Does this tool upload any data? No. Everything happens locally in your browser.
